Ice Cream in Hjo
Looking for ice cream in Hjo? The town is home to two dedicated ice cream cafés – Moster Elins Glass and Gula Paviljongen. While ice cream can be enjoyed at several locations around town, these are the places where ice cream takes centre stage. At Moster Elins Glass, you'll find a wide selection of more than 40 flavours, creative ice cream desserts and options for families with children. There is even ice cream for your dog. At Gula Paviljongen, locally crafted ice cream is the main attraction, featuring their own Wetternglass and freshly baked waffle cones made on site. Here you can learn more about the two ice cream cafés, discover what makes each of them unique and read the makers' own recommendations for their favourite flavours.
Moster Elins Glass
In Hjo Harbour stands the old Harbour Master's Cottage. Many years ago, the harbour master Klas lived here with his beloved Aunt Elin ("Moster Elin"). For 45 years they cared for Hjo Harbour as if it were their own. Since 2007, the ice cream café Moster Elins has been based in the cottage, where visitors can choose from no fewer than 40 different ice cream flavours.
Be sure to explore the menu of ice cream desserts, featuring creative names inspired by local stories and characters, such as Vättersnipa, Svarta Malin and Rökaren Bengt. And, of course, because you are in Hjo, you can also try I Love Hjo.

Gula Paviljongen and Wetternglass
Located beside the Hjo River, the organic ice cream café Gula Paviljongen serves its own ice cream brand, Wetternglass.
Wetternglass combines Swedish quality ingredients with Italian craftsmanship. Its famous creamy gelato texture is achieved by blending cream, milk and eggs. All key ingredients come from organic farms in the local area.
The company has also specialised in "nice cream" – a dairy-free ice cream alternative made with banana as its base.

A little tip!
As you walk past Gula Paviljongen, you will notice the irresistible aroma of freshly baked waffles. That's because they make their own waffle cones on site.
