Dalslands Konstmuseum

 Upperud, Mellerud

The Dalsland Art Museum features constantly updated and innovative exhibitions alongside a permanent collection of Dalsland artefacts and art. Stroll through the beautiful sculpture park and pick up something lovely in the shop. Enjoy a coffee break at Café Bonaparte with its unrivalled views of Lake Spången. 

Did you know?

  • The museum was founded by Sten Torstensson, whose collection was so extensive that it filled an entire museum.  
  • Café Bonaparte takes its name from Napoleon’s niece, who lived at the Upperud mansion for a few years.

 Fengersfors, Åmål

Not Quite is a parrot in the Nordic forest. The old paper mill has been transformed into a cultural centre. Exhibitions, shops, events and good food. 

Tip!

  • Don’t miss Not Quite Café & Bistro in the old smithy.
  • Dalsland’s smallest museum, the Homografiska Museet, is located right in the middle of the park.
  • Brukets Godaste bakes artisan bread in its wood-fired stone oven.
    About 2 km from Not Quite lies Fröskogs Snittblomsodling. Pick-your-own, café and farm shop.

Majberget

 Bengtsfors

High up on the Majberget mountain on the outskirts of Bengtsfors, with unrivalled views of the lake and village. Two beautiful museums and a summer café. 

Halmens Hus – the Nordic region’s only straw museum, featuring exhibitions, history and a large, well-stocked art and craft shop that is worth a visit in its own right. 

Gammelgården Open-Air Museum – Classic Dalsland cottages have been collected and rebuilt to form a small village on the hill. Guided tours, events and a wealth of history.

Brunsparken & herbgarden

 Dals Rostock, Mellerud

Welcome to Kerstin Ljungqvist’s world in Brunnsparken. She is an expert in medicinal plants and an artist. Visit her studio and the large herb garden. See the beautiful apothecary in the local history museum and enjoy a cup of coffee in the park. There are also second-hand bookshops and vintage shops in the area.
