On Tjörn we love art and nature. From the jetty at the Nordic Watercolor Museum, you can dip your paintbrush in water while you dip your toes in the sea. From the cliffs of the historic landscape of Sculpture in Pilane, you can gaze out over the sea with the sculpture Anna by your side. Across the water stands Pater Noster, the king of lighthouses, where you have a world-class design hotel that offers you a home on the horizon.

The Nordic Watercolour Museum

The Nordic Watercolour Museum is beautifully situated by the sea on Tjörn and showcases temporary exhibitions year-round. Swedish artists such as Gunilla Bergström and Lars Lerin, as well as international stars like Louise Bourgeois and Salvador Dali, have been featured here.

The summer's major exhibition features Belgian artist Hans Op de Beeck (May 26–Sept 22). The year concludes with Christine Ödlund's work (Oct 13 –March 2, 2025).

Sculpture in Pilane

Sculpture in Pilane

Every summer in the historic Bohuslän landscape, alongside Stone Age remains and grazing sheep, is a sculpture exhibition of world-leading artists. One of the world's largest and most beautiful works of art, the 14 meter high sculpture ANNA, by the Spanish artist Jaume Plensa, sits high on the cliffs with her timeless face turned to the sea while the seasons flow around her.

New artworks 2024: sculptors include Laura Ford, Andrew Sabin, Lenny Clarhäll, Moa Israelsson, Maria Miesenberger, Ann Wolff, and Ida Koitila.

Pater Noster

Pater Noster

The Pater Noster lighthouse on the island of Hamneskär guided sailors for over 150 years. The masterful architecture of this legendary lighthouse is now a home on the horizon. The solitary lighthouse keeper's residence is one of the world's foremost design hotels, and has won several awards such as the World's Best Hotel Concept 2021 and the Stora Turismpriset 2022.
