8 delightful golf weekends – from fairway to fika
A golf weekend is so much more than just rounds on the course. Here we've gathered golf courses where you can combine top-class play with fantastic food, comfortable accommodation, and fun experiences beyond the fairway. Perfect for anyone who wants to enjoy both on and off the course.
1. Play one of the country's best forest courses
Right at the foot of Billingeberget lies Skövde Golfklubb, ranked among the country's 20 best golf courses by the magazine Svensk Golf. The scenic 18-hole course is fairly hilly, with every hole beautifully framed by lush woodland.

A chance for historical excursions
Just minutes away, Skövde awaits with a wide range of restaurants, shops, and entertainment. Den Lilla Krogen and Orangeriet are two great tips if you appreciate good food.
If you, or someone in your group, need a longer break from the course, we recommend a visit to historic Varnhem, about a 15-minute drive away. Here you'll find a magnificent abbey church, a blooming dahlia bed, delicious galettes at Mellomgårdens Café, and Alekärr Organic Farm, where you can pick your own plums, berries, and apples
Nearby accommodation tips:
- Billingehus (6 km from the golf course). A hilltop hotel with two relaxing spas, a bar, and restaurants with views over all of Skövde.
2. A golf weekend in Gothenburg
Fifteen minutes from central Gothenburg lies Sankt Jörgen Park Resort — a modern country club where you stay with the first tee just a comfortable pitch away. The 18-hole parkland course really puts your swing to the test, with hilly terrain and strategically placed greens.
Beyond the golf itself, Sankt Jörgen is a popular retreat for anyone who loves spa, good food, and exercise. Did you know they even make their own wine from grapes grown on the resort? Book a wine tasting and try it for yourself.

Take a trip to the archipelago
If you'd like to experience Gothenburg's archipelago, we recommend a trip to Hönö, where you'll find everything from cozy cafés and shops to hiking among the cliffs and old boathouses. Or why not step aboard one of the archipelago boats for a seafood cruise with entertainment?
Nearby accommodation tips:
- Sankt Jörgen Park Resort (at the golf course). A lovely hotel with restaurant, bar, Pool Club, and group fitness classes.
3. A golf getaway on an archipelago island
If you've never played Skaftö Golf Club before, you truly have something to look forward to. The 18-hole course winds its way between the cliffs, with new challenges lurking around every corner. Keeping an eye on the wind direction and watching out for rocky bounces will be key to a successful round.

A paradise for whisky lovers
Out on Skaftö in Bohuslän there's plenty to see and experience. The island's largest villages, Fiskebäckskil and Grundsund, are true west coast gems with a cluster of boathouses and lively boat traffic. There are several great archipelago restaurants here, such as Pelles Rökeri and Brygghuset — the latter has been named the country's best whisky pub several times.
You'll also find plenty of great hiking trails here, including one out to Islandsbergs huvud, the island's southernmost point. At Skaftöguiden you can book your own guide to show you around the island. Another tip is to rent kayaks at Balanspunkten and discover Skaftö from the sea.
Nearby accommodation tips:
- Tweed Hotel Skaftö (at the golf course). Comfortable lodging right in the middle of the island, putting you close to everything — cliffs, salty sea breezes, and the first tee.
- Slipens Hotell (2 km from the golf course). A beautiful hotel where every room tells its own story through personal, quirky interior design.
- Gullmarsstrand (2.5 km from the golf course). A seaside spa hotel with an infinity pool and a restaurant serving fresh seafood.
4. Two golf courses in charming Ulricehamn
Ulricehamn is home to not just one, but two scenic golf courses. Right on the edge of town lies Ulricehamn Golf Club, one of the highest-situated courses in southern Sweden. And 20 minutes south of town you'll find Åsundsholm, where the only sound disturbing your game is birdsong. Each course offers 18 enjoyable holes set in beautiful parkland and forest.
Enjoy being close to the water
When you're in Ulricehamn, it's a given that you should enjoy being close to Lake Åsunden. Take an evening stroll along the promenade and check out the spectacular cold bath house (where you can take a dip, enjoy a sauna, and have a good dinner). For a coffee break, head to the award-winning Gunnars Konditori.
Within half an hour's drive of Ulricehamn you'll find several exciting excursion destinations, such as Årås Säteri & Trädgårdar, the historic Torpa Stenhus, and Hofsnäs Herrgård, as well as Hermans Lada, which occasionally hosts intimate concert evenings.
Nearby accommodation tips:

5. A weekend at Sweden's largest golf facility
Do you love golf too? Then you'll be completely floored by Öijared Resort. Here you'll find Sweden's largest golf facility, with a total of 63 holes spread across three 18-hole courses and one multi-sport course. The courses each have their own character, alternating between parkland and forest.
Öijared is located on a scenic peninsula between Lake Mjörn and Lake Sävelången, half an hour from Gothenburg. It's an impressive facility with plenty to experience, not least the architect-designed clubhouse, whose grass-covered roof serves as the first tee on the Park Course.

Experiences for the whole family
Besides golf, the multi-sport course also includes disc golf and footgolf, which is perfect for family members who want to stay active but aren't quite as dedicated to golf as you are — that is, if they don't prefer to spend their days in Öijared's pool and sauna facilities.
The surrounding area offers everything from great hiking along the Gota Trail to shopping at Nääs Fabriker and guided castle tours at Nääs Slott. Another tip is to take a trip to the old mill town of Jonsered, where you can visit the restaurant Poppels Öl & Mat, the popular café Brödfabriken, and Jonsereds Trädgårdar.

6. A scenic golf weekend in northern Dalsland
Around one of the thousands of small lakes in Dalsland winds one of the country's most beautiful golf courses. Forsbacka Golfklubb, outside Åmål, is a scenic forest-and-parkland course where several of the 18 holes are played over water, testing both skill and strategy.

There's truly something for the whole family here!

7. Golf by Fjällbacka's archipelago
Few courses have as spectacular a setting as Fjällbacka Golfklubb. A round here offers everything that defines Bohuslän — water, wind, cliffs, and lush greenery. The course has a semi-seaside character with firm greens. The Anrås River runs alongside several holes, offering captivating views while also demanding precision from your game.
Islands, beautiful views, and a World Heritage site
Five minutes away, Fjällbacka awaits with its beautiful archipelago villas and the best outdoor seating at Bryggan Café & Bistro. The most impressive view over the village is undoubtedly from Vetteberget, where you can also explore the peculiar Kungsklyftan ravine.
Do you or someone in your group need a longer break from playing? No worries — there's plenty to experience in the area. With a fantastic seaside location in Bohuslän, Lyckorna Golfklubb in Ljungskile offers a great golfing experience. The course combines challenging seaside and parkland holes with wide fairways — demanding for elite players yet welcoming for the average golfer. Beginners and amateurs will find Pay & Play, a driving range, and two putting greens.

Eat and drink well
At Musselbaren, Lyckorna in Ljungskile, mussels naturally take center stage — here you can enjoy fresh blue mussels prepared according to their own recipe, sourced from Scanfjord's mussel farms in the fjord. If you want to get really close to the ingredients, you can join a mussel expedition, harvest fresh mussels yourself, and then cook Moules Frites together with the team at Musselbaren.
If you're after something calmer, Brödbacken is a sourdough bakery and nature café housed in a restored barn, surrounded by hills, lakes, and pastures — perfect for a cup of coffee and a freshly baked bun.
For those who want a bit of everything, Kärrstegens Gård in Ljungskile is the answer: a charming farm café with a deli counter, flower shop, and home décor, just 20 minutes south of Uddevalla.
