The Kindaholm Pilgrim’s Way
Kalv/Håcksvik/Ö Frölunda/ Mårdaklev
The Kindaholm Pilgrim’s Way is a 49 km long pilgrim’s trail connecting Kalv, Håcksvik, Frölunda and Mårdaklev churches. You’ll experience a historic walk going through lovely beech woods, farmland, pine forests, and alongside Lake Fegen. Some of the historic highlights you’ll pass include the Kummeludden Iron Age grave field, Gammalsjö Manor, and the old stronghold at Kindahus.
What to see
The trail is mostly along private roads, as well as forest paths, farm tracks and public highways. In some places it is possible to walk a section and get the bus back. The trail can be broken up into 4 stages. There are many historically interesting places to stop at along the way, such as the iron age grave field at Kummeludden, the old toll mill at Gammalsjö, Klockaregården with its wall paintings from the 1840s and the old stronghold at Kindahus. Kindahus was once a medieval border stronghold and in the 1400s was one of the kingdom’s defences against Denmark.
Services
Along the trail there are three campsites with barbecue area and dry toilet. Wind protection is available at the campsite Ö Frölunda / Mölneby. At the campsites Mårdaklev and in Kalv / Kättarp there is the possibility to set up tents. To spend the night at the campsites, you need to buy a camp coupon. There are several accommodation options indoors along the trail. In Kalv you will find Kalv's family camping and the hostel Kalv's schoolhouse. On the section Kalv - Håcksvik you will find Parksäter's B&B and café. On the Håcksvik-Östra Frölunda section, there is the old publishing house Lerbäcksbyn, which offers a pitch, tent or house for rent. The last stretch at Mårdaklev you will find the familiar Hemma på Klev which offers food and accommodation at the beautiful nature reserve Klev in the historic building Klevs Gästgiveri.

The trail can be divided into four stages:
Mårdaklev-Kalv - 7 km (~ 1,5 hours)
Kalv-Håcksvik - 17 km (~ 3,5 - 4 hours)
Håcksvik-Östra Frölunda - 14 km (~ 3 hours)
Östra Frölunda-Mårdaklev - 11 km (~ 2 hours - 2,5 hours)

Start and end:
You can join the trail wherever you want, but good starting points are the churches along the trail. You find yhe churches in Östra Frölunda, Mårdaklev, Kalv and Håcksvik.
