Do you feel like it's time to try something new? Here is a list of 5 nature experiences in Sjuhärad you will never regret trying, and which should definitely be on your bucket list!
Some things you will never regret. That you took that day for yourself, tried something completely new or met that person. Regardless of whether you get a memory for life or an exciting story, you will certainly get a new experience.
1. Live in a glass house
Live in a glass house, embraced by forest and nature. Lie on the bed and take in the rustling of the trees and the song of the great tit - from your snug sleeping place. Enjoy a cup of coffee in the beautiful, hand-turned mugs and enjoy the view from the lounge chairs outside the cottages. Of course, you cook the food in the house's outdoor cooking facilites - after you've enjoyed homemade cinnamon buns from the farm bakery!
Erikson Cottage offers a unique experience with accommodation in one of its three glass houses. Choose whether you want to live deep in the forest or with a view of the clear lake.
2. Pick flowers
From seed and bulb to colourful flowers. At Lindedalen Wellness Garden, flowers are grown with lots of love but zero chemical additives. Treat yourself to a trip here to stroll in peace and quiet among dahlias, sweet peas and rose hips. Pick your own bouquet to take home. Buy a coffee in the garden café and take a walk in the beautiful surroundings.
Occasionally they also organise retreats, yoga classes and courses in flower growing on the farm.
3. Forest bathing
Forest bathing, or in Japanese shinrin-yoku, does not require swimwear. Here it is instead about bathing one's senses in the forest. Staying in nature with all your senses open; listen to the birds and the wind, watch the movement of the trees and the sun's rays through the foliage, taste the herbs of the forest and dip your toes in the water.
A forest bath with a certified leader in Sjuhärad's forests usually lasts 2-3 hours and differs in several ways from the usual nature walk in the forest. Here we slow down the pace considerably and are guided to experiences that open our minds. From time to time the group stops and gathers for joint reflection. Here, the focus is on contact with nature and a deepening relationship with the living environment. The goal is to strengthen your own capacity for recovery and well-being.
4. Hiking with horses
Have a longing to connect with nature and animals? To experience a meeting without a requirement for results or performance? This is what Horse n´ Heal wants to create during its walks in the woods and fields together with the farm's horses that walk freely by your side. Here you let the horses hooves decide both the path and the pace, while the proximity to the animals has an almost magical ability to make you let go of everyday worries, slow down and live in the present.
5. Gliding along the surface of the water
Gliding quietly out with the canoe from the beach gives a wonderful feeling of freedom. The Fegen area in southern Sjuhärad invites both the seasoned paddler and the total beginner to this very feeling of freedom - a nature experience on the water that is truly something out of the ordinary.
Maybe you want to paddle for several days or just content with a day trip. The lake is large and deep and also famous for the rare sea lions in spring. Pike, perch, zander and eels also feed here. The fact is that Fegen Lake is considered one of the most protected lakes in southern Sweden.
There are many campsites along the shores of the lake that give you the opportunity to relax and rest. Here you can camp, take a cup of coffee from the thermos and perhaps barbeque the evening meal.
