Sjuhärad is the perfect destination for families looking for adventure and fun. A world full of fun and adventure awaits for both young and old. Check out our best tips!
1. Cycle like never before
Cycle together with the kids and discover fun and safe cycling routes adapted for the whole family. Fresh air and fun await! If you want to ride a mountain bike, we can recommend Lassalyckan and Bollekollen Bikepark.
For those of you who want to cycle on car-free embankments and cosy small roads, there are the Ätradalsleden and Sjuhäradsrundan.
How does the human body actually work, what is Archimedes' screw and how big is the universe? If your children are curious about how everything is connected in the world, you can visit the award-winning Navet Science Center in Borås.
Here, the whole family can compete in thinking power, get an adrenaline rush from testing a VR experience and play around in the large water section. Navet also has extra fun activities with different themes from time to time.
3. Look for mischievous trolls at Gräve mine
Trolltorget at Gräne mine in Svenljunga offers many fun children's activities with a focus on play, climbing, jumping and balance. Already at the entrance you are met by Gruve, the mining troll, and then trolls appear here and there. Rush through the troll's gap and hide in the log tunnel, get lost in the maze and play hide and seek around the boulders.
From troll square, you can follow the cosy troll trail, which is a hiking trail for the little ones, where it is teeming with trolls and more both to left and right. How many trolls can you find?
4. Climb high into the air
Our next tip is not something for those afraid of heights. On Sjuhärad's high-altitude courses, you can challenge yourself, or why not let the children challenge you, in a range of different obstacle courses, climbs and ziplines. Some of the courses stay at a safe distance from the ground (1-2 metres), while some take you 12 metres up into the treetops. Really nerve-wracking!
The old glass factory in Limmared is the oldest glass factory still in operation in Sweden. The glassblowers here work according to old glassblowing tradition. It is exciting to watch the professionals spin the 1000-degree glass and create drinking glasses, vases and bottles with incredible finesse.
Here you can also try blowing your own glass, both adults and children are welcome. The prices vary depending on the childs age. 5-9 year olds can blow a glass drop in any color and 10-15 year olds can blow a glass ball or letter press. All children will receive a diploma afterwards.
6. Wander among suspension bridges, castles and bathing spots
It's nice to go on a weekend hike with the whole family and especially when it is a sufficiently long hiking trail where there are exciting things to discover. In Sjuhärad, there are several hiking trails that offer wonderful experiences for the whole family.

7. Riding on Icelandic ponies
Get on the saddle and let the horse show you the way through our beautiful nature. At Milåsa Islandic ponies i Mark you can ride in both summer and winter, the nature and the horses are just as beautiful all year round. The horses here are safe and experienced, so it's a calm and nice activity.
Join us on a horse-riding tour with a nature guide. There are several different tours to choose from, ranging from a few hours to full-day tours and even weekends with overnight stays.
8. Speeding down the ski slope
When winter comes and the snow falls over Sjuhärad, there is a given place for all families with children - Ski Bike Hike in Ulricehamn (formerly Ulricehamn Ski Center). You will find a complete winter sports facility here with slopes of various degrees of difficulty. The area is ideal for beginners and families with children. Here, the children can improve their technique on the children's slope and go up on their own ski-lift. There is also a popular ski school for both adults and children.
If you are one of those who prefer cross-country skiing, Lassalykkan is a good alternative. Here you can read more about Ski Resort Ulricehamn.
9. Stroke the goats and spy on the bears
It is easy to spend one or more days at Borås Zoo. The park is divided up into several different themes. Rhinos, elephants and zebras thrive on the African savannah. Lynxes, brown bears and seals live in the Nordic forest. The Jungle Kingdom houses the monkeys and lions and at Bondgården you can stroke the goats, rabbits and Gotland ponies.
Don't miss Simbaland, where the play never ends, or Dinopark, where you can travel back 100 million years in time. You can also spend the night in the Wildlife Camp with it's large tents.
10. Swim, swim, SWIM!
What would this list of family-friendly activities be if swimming wasn't included? There are many options for taking the children on a fun bathing excursion, regardless of whether it is in a swiminng pool or at the beach next to a lake.
