Villa Giacomina
Lidköping
Today Villa Giacomina park is an important recreation area and a destination for Lidköping locals and tourists. The park offers stunning views over Vänern, with Lidköping and Kinnekulle in the background, and the Skogshyddan cafe, with minigolf, not far away.
The park is a mix of Swedish and foreign tree species. The most common tree in the park is beech but linden, ash, chestnut and larch are also found. Laid out like an English landscape park, it was designed in 1791 and completed by Gustaf Piper in 1818. The intention was to showcase the beauty of nature with winding paths, streams, bridges and summer houses. The pink summer house is photogenic and worth a look and it is said that Gustaf Piper’s daughter Louise buried her horses in the ground surrounding it.
