Spring in Destination Läckö-Kinnekulle
Wild Garlic at Munkängarna and Västerplana Storäng
Wild garlic is quite a rare species in Sweden but it flourishes on Kinnekulle. Visit Munkängarna or Västerplana Storäng up on the mountain in the spring and you can’t miss the sweetish scent of wild garlic and the white painted ground. Remember that you are not permitted to pick wild garlic in the nature reserve! Read more about the wild garlic here!
The orchid Guckusko at Kinnekulle
At Kinnekulle just above Hjelmsäter property you can see "our own" orchid, Guckuskon, in early or mid-June. Flowering usually lasts for about two weeks so it is important not to miss it. The species is rare in the entire Swedish distribution area except in northeastern Uppland and in some areas in Jämtland.

The park Villa Giacomina
Every spring, usually in March / April, the entire ground in the Villa Giacomina park is covered with white flowers named "Vitsippa". It is very popular to take a beautiful spring walk in the white sea of flowers. The park also have a nice view of Lake Vänern with Lidköping and Kinnekulle in the background. The climate at Kinnekulle plateau mountain have created special conditions for this kind of flora. This type of nature is called “alvar” and can only be found at a few places in the world. Martorpsfallet – A waterfall at Kinnekulle
The waterfall at Kinnekulle is most beautiful during springtime when the amount of water is at its highest level and the water gushes down the limestone cleft. The fall can be completely dried out during dry summer months and then the drainage mainly goes on underground through cracks in the bedrock. Kållandsö and Kinnekulle with its cultural landscape, proximity to Lake Vänern and beautiful nature, are both popular areas for hiking. When trees and plants come to life after the long autumn and winter, it is especially beautiful to wander around in nature. Especially on Kinnekulle!
