Heråmaden and Bastedalen
Dals-Ed
Heråmaden includes unaffected forests along the Herå River. The nature reserve is almost five square kilometers large. Parts of the Heråmaden were used for mowing as late as the 1960s and fragments of the mowing barns remain today.
Today, agriculture has lost its importance in this region and is now known for bird life, recreation and water management.

In winter, there are wolf tracks and overwintering golden eagles that contribute to the area's wilderness character.
