A historic and scenic location

Along Lake Anten lies Gräfsnäs Castle Park and ruin, one of Alingsås’ most popular attractions. Gräfsnäs is known for its rich history and beautiful natural surroundings. At the center lies the castle ruin, which has a dramatic history of curses and fires. Around it winds the “Love Trail” along the lakeshore, and the generous green spaces in the park are well suited for picnics, recreation, swimming, and as a gathering place for larger groups. During spring, summer, and autumn, numerous events take place in the park. At these times, the café is also open, and the historic train from the Anten–Gräfsnäs Museum Railway operates in the area.

From July 7, 2025, Gräfsnäs Castle Ruin will be closed for renovation. Maintenance work is necessary to ensure the safety and preservation of the ruin. This means it will not be possible to enter the ruin; however, Gräfsnäs Castle Park will remain open as usual for all visitors.

Dramatic history & the railroad's importance

Gräfsnäs Castle Park and ruin carry a long and dramatic history, marked by curses and fires. Historically, the Anten–Gräfsnäs Railway has also played an important role for the area, and thanks to the AGJ association, the train still runs today along its 12 km route.
